    Mark has taught at various institutions:

    2022-23 CFMI, Université de Tours - composition tutor for a course aimed at musicians who wish to initiate creative music projects in schools.
    2021-22 Université de Pau - lecturer [Masters 2], "Rhétorique des Arts" - modules on electronic music, music and film, 20th century American music
    2013-20 Conservatoire CRD Carcassonne - teacher of piano, composition and world music, coordinator of the keyboard department of the conservatoire and its five satellite schools of music : Capendu, Bram, Castelnaudary, Limoux and Quillan
    1989-2008 Royal Birmingham Conservatoire/Birmingham City University - head of world music, course director for the degree BMus Raga Sangeet (the classical music of North India, Pakistan and Bangladesh), assistant director of the composition department, gamelan teacher, doctoral supervisor

    Independently he has run many participatory projects in educational and community settings using the gamelan, an ideal vehicle for developing group cooperation, creativity, rhythm and listening awareness, particularly with people considered, or who consider themselves to be 'non-musicians'

    From 2007 to 2013 he worked as a music workshop leader at the Limoux psychiatric hospital in the south of France, using voice, world percussion, synthesizers, sound and dj equipment as well as gamelan.
    He now runs an arts residency with writer Kate A Hardy in the Loire Valley, which can offer short residential courses in creative music - alternative approaches to composition, improvisation, and world jazz.
